大森「この本で書かれていること、言語化はできなくても、玉木さんのやってきたことっていうのは、僕はあまりにも合理的だと思っていて。それは正しいという意味で。実はこれから日本を本当の意味で持続可能にしていく人がここ、『日本のへそ』西脇にいるんだっていうことを、少なくともこの周辺の方々には分かっていてほしいというのが、
僕はあるんですよね。」
越川「本当に玉木さんの進み方ってパズル的だなって思ってて。設計図ありきじゃないんで。そこは直感に従って自分を信じてやってるし、スタッフを信じてされてるっていう。それで全体像が見えた時に、あ、組み上がった、みたいな。tamaki niimeの歩みって、その積み重ねかなっていうのをすごく感じています。そのワクワク感をハタから見ていても感じますし、一緒にやるような人たちが、本当、もっとここに集って来たら本当に面白いと思う。」
Omori: Even if not everything written in this book can be put into words, I believe what Ms Tamaki has been doing is incredibly rational—in the sense that it is fundamentally right. I also believe that people like her, who can truly make Japan sustainable in the real sense of the word, are right here in Nishiwaki, the ‘navel of Japan.’ At the very least, I hope the people in this area come to recognize that.
Koshikawa: I’ve always felt that the way Ms Tamaki moves forward is almost like putting together a puzzle. There isn’t a master blueprint. She follows her intuition, trusts herself, and trusts her staff. Then one day, when the whole picture comes into view, you realize, ‘Ah, it’s all come together.’ That’s how tamaki niime has grown—one step, one piece at a time. I can really feel that steady accumulation. You can sense the excitement even from the outside, and I think it would be fascinating if even more people who wanted to create something together gathered here.
